Kids become reporters with Confalonieri and Cometa

Ragazzi reporter con Confalonieri e Cometa

Every person deserves the opportunity to develop their potential and build their own future. In Confalonieri we firmly believe this and we’re trying to do our part so that this principle is translated into actions: that’s why we’re working with Cometa, an organisation that welcomes and supports children and young people from diverse backgrounds, promoting their growth through educational and training programmes.

Cometa has been active for many years with many different projects for minors in the Lombardy region, where Confalonieri has its roots: we’ve always worked to maintain a close relationship with our surrounding area, so we’re very proud to support one of Cometa’s youth projects.

It’s a journalism workshop for the young people at the day center “Una casa per crescere” (“A house to grow”): kids become real reporters in their communities. The project features a magazine and a website in which participants write articles and create web content, sharing their experiences in daily life, in local communities and meeting different cultures. It’s an opportunity to develop communication skills, to train critical thinking and to prepare to become active and informed citizens.

Our Gordona site has recently become an assignment for Cometa’s team of young reporters: the group visited our plant to see how our products are made, discovering the manufacturing process of our pencils, from wood to finishing. At the end of the visit, the kids interviewed our CEO Luca Confalonieri, who answered many curiosities about the company, our production processes, our history and the evolution of the industry. The dialogue has become an article in the new issue of Occhi aperti, Cometa’s magazine, along with the story of the day the kids spent in Gordona.

This visit is a perfect example of what we aim to achieve together, Confalonieri For Children and Cometa: we want to offer young people education, but also practical experiences that can contribute to their growth. It’s an opportunity to overcome cultural or economic barriers, supporting every child while they develop their potential.
