Quality and careful selection: at Confalonieri, we’ve always been very careful about the ingredients we use in our pencils. “What’s in this product?” is a question consumers in the world of makeup are asking more and more, thanks to the increasing awareness around environmental and social responsibility. That’s why we guarantee full transparency to our clients, on every product and on every single batch of pencils.
Since we manufacture our pencils entirely in our own facility, we’re able to provide detailed information on the raw materials used for each batch, whether specific certifications are required or not. Over the years, we have built a network of reliable suppliers who share our commitment to respecting both people and the planet, a core value for us.
A good example is natural mica, a perfect ingredient for achieving pearlescent and shimmering finishes without using microplastics that damage the environment. The natural mica we use in our formulas is responsibly sourced, supplied by organizations that take part in initiatives to stop child labour in the mining of this mineral.
Our formulas include various ingredients derived from palm oil, chemically processed in different forms. All the raw materials used in Confalonieri products are RSPO-certified, following the "segregated" or "mass balance" models. With this certification, we can ensure that we use palm oil from farms that do not contribute to deforestation and comply with social sustainability standards.
Our makeup pencils are strictly made of wood, since the beginning. We use Californian cedar sourced from responsibly-managed forests, as confirmed by the PEFC certification for the chain of custody of forest-based products. We’re able to trace the origin of every batch of wood that enters our carpentry, as well as each step along the supply chain. Soon, this information will be even more detailed: starting in 2026, under a new European regulation, it will be mandatory to provide the geolocation of the land where the timber was harvested. Satellite images will be used to monitor forest management, comparing “before” and “after” to help prevent deforestation.
