With Lumina, conscious beauty shines bright

Glamorous for its sparkling effect, responsible because it's made without environmentally harmful components: meet Lumina, our new collection of microplastic-free glitter pencils. Vegan and made with biodegradable glitter, Lumina is the result of our ongoing commitment to conscious beauty, one that shines without ingredients that could harm the ecosystem. Here’s how we created it.

Glamour meets sustainability

Pencils with a glitter effect are a classic for eye makeup (and beyond). Nowadays, the challenge lies in creating these products without glitter made from plastic materials. Until now, plastic-based glitter has been widely used for its excellent performance and ease of use, but a change is essential if we want to develop products that don’t release microplastics into the environment.

We found the solution through innovative technology: glitter made from tiny cellulose flakes, coated with a shimmering film. The cellulose comes from responsibly managed forests, just like the wood we use for our pencils, and the glitter offers OECD 301F-certified biodegradability in aquatic environments.

Smooth application, long-lasting colour

We’ve incorporated this innovative ingredient into a vegan, dermatologically tested formula that is soft, yet long-wearing. The texture combines a blend of waxes with different melting points to ensure creaminess and structure, along with a light-touch ester that provides smoothness without oiliness.

Lumina is pleasant to apply, with a precise line that delivers a rich colour from the very first stroke. To enhance wear, our R&D team included sucrose acetate isobutyrate, which acts as a film-former to help set the product, while tocopherol offers antioxidant benefits.

Deep colours and sparkle

The Lumina range includes four eye pencils in vibrant shades: deep black and ocean blue with silver glitter, warm brown and forest green with gold glitter.
