From formula to packaging: how we make customised pencils

Confalonieri’s private label pencils are 100% customised, starting with a project we develop with the client. We often refer to this as a co-creation process, because every aspect of the product is designed and refined together.

The first step is to identify the most suitable formulas for your private label line: our R&D department can adapt textures already available in our range, or develop new solutions tailored to the project.

The colour palette is another pivotal element, of course. Our colour library, our minoteca, includes over 5,000 references, constantly updated, but we can also create custom colours based on Pantone references or physical samples. Depending on the desired characteristics of the formula (vegan, natural, organic) and the client’s blacklist, we choose the most suitable pigment combination to achieve the target shade of the pencil.

We can manufacture your private label pencils in slim, standard, chubby, or jumbo formats, depending on the texture and the type of product. The one constant is the wood: we use exclusively Californian cedar, sourced from responsibly managed forests, PEFC-certified and processed directly in-house.

Together with each client, the Confalonieri team defines the graphics and external finishes of the pencil or the full private label line, followed by the cap and accessories, as well as any additional packaging.

We ensure full transparency on the ingredients used in our textures and offer complete technical support for all regulatory matters. We can formulate and manufacture pencils that comply with the requirements of various target markets (in line with the regulations of the European Union, FDA, and other institutions) and suitable for a range of different certifications.
